A Musical Encounter Between Ole Bull and Ola Kvernberg
Utøvere:

Ola Kvernberg (fiolin)
Ensemble Allegria
About
Two distinctive musical worlds meet as violinist Ragnhild Hemsing, composer and multi-instrumentalist Ola Kvernberg and Ensemble Allegria come together for a chamber concert in Aurdal Church.
At the heart of the programme are two composers from very different eras: Ole Bull, the legendary Norwegian violin virtuoso who drew deeply on folk music, and Ola Kvernberg, one of Norway’s most innovative contemporary musicians and composers. Their music creates a dialogue across generations – between classical and improvisational traditions, composition and playfulness, heritage and renewal.
The concert opens with excerpts from Kvernberg’s music for Flåklypa – From Paris to the Pyramids, followed by Ragnhild Hemsing’s virtuosic interpretations of Ole Bull’s Et Seterbesøk and Polacca Guerriera.
Bringing together Hemsing’s distinctive fiddle playing, Kvernberg’s distinctive musical voice, and Ensemble Allegria’s unique stage presence creates a concert where genre boundaries matter less than the music itself.
A concert for anyone wishing to experience three prominent Norwegian musical voices—Ole Bull, Ola Kvernberg, and Ragnhild Hemsing—coming together in a way that could only happen at the Hemsing Festival.
