Prior to the concert, starting at 12.00. there will be a sale of baked goods from the Bakery in Valdres outside the mountain church. A concert programme filled with Nordic sounds, nature and atmosphere. Here, celebration and folk dance meet the anticipation of spring, bright summer scenes and quiet melancholy. The concert opens with Edvard Grieg’s elegant and playful Holberg Suite, followed by Johan Svendsen’s solemn Alt under Himmelens Feste, which turns our gaze towards the grandeur of the heavens. With Grieg’s To Spring (Våren), we enter a lighter and more lyrical landscape – a musical portrayal of nature awakening.
The journey continues with Carl Nielsen’s sparkling Little Suite and Kurt Atterberg’s colourful Suite No. 3, before Jean Sibelius’ poignant Valse triste brings the concert to a close in an entirely different mood: darker, quieter and more contemplative. From celebration and folk dance to the anticipation of spring, Nordic nature and quiet melancholy – a programme that reflects the breadth and rich emotional landscape of Nordic music.
