We would like to welcome you to the Hemsing Festival with a festive evening featuring wonderful musicians, fantastic music, and a warm, inviting setting.

A programme inspired by Romanticism and French music – from Mozart’s playful duet for violin and viola to Debussy’s dreamlike Clair de lune, via Saint-Saëns’ poetic The Swan, and the French elegance of Bizet, Ibert and Fauré. Flute, harp and strings come together in a programme that moves between the intimate and the grand, the lyrical and the virtuosic. The concert concludes with Mendelssohn’s sparkling and romantic String Symphony No. 10 – a musical journey from the warm sonorities of Romanticism to the poetic, shimmering dream world of French music. Here, Ensemble Allegria appears both as a full orchestra and as individual musicians in a rare and personal chamber-music constellation, joined by Cecilie Løken on flute, Sidsel Walstad on harp, Eldbjørg Hemsing on violin, and Ragnhild Hemsing on violin. This is a programme of great contrasts, yet with one common thread: a love of beautiful, vibrant and colourful chamber sound, intertwined with sparkling flute tones and hypnotic harp playing.
